At the beginning of 2022, the athletes made our company very proud with their participation in the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. The Women’s Skeleton competition turned out to be historic for Team NewCold and the Netherlands. Until now, a Dutch athlete had never won a medal at the Winter Olympics in the skeleton discipline. But then Kimberley Bos made her appearance on the Olympic track of Beijing and after 4 descents on her sled, she won a bronze medal!
The monobob races in Beijing were also historic. For the first time, monobob was performed as a discipline by athletes at the Winter Olympics. NewCold was very proud that Karlien Sleper from Team NewCold was immediately qualified for these Olympic races. She eventually made her debut at the Olympic Winter Games with a sixteenth place.
After many setbacks in the World Cup season, the Dutch bobsleigh men were allowed to go to the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics after all, when the NOC*NSF gave the green light at the last minute. It was a great honor to also see the bobsleigh men representing their country in Beijing. Ivo de Bruin and Jelen Franjic finished 23rd in the 2-man bob and the 4-man bob finished 26th at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
