Who we are
NewCold Automation (NCA) continuously seeks the most efficient ways to control Material Handling Equipment (MHE), minimizing operational downtime and maintenance while enhancing ease of use for operators and maintenance personnel. Additionally, NCA strives to reduce on-site installation times while maintaining the high-quality delivery standards required by NewCold.
NewCold Automation is managed by Operational Director Stefan Ribbens, supported by Wim Geentjens of GL Automation and Patrick de Breet, VP of MHE. Operating from Herentals, Belgium, NCA ensures that NewCold continues to innovate and advance automation solutions for projects worldwide.
What we do
NCA is responsible for upholding high-quality standards in Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) design and PLC software for conveyors, monorails, and automatic storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS).
NCA consists of four groups that work closely together to design, procure, install, and commission all software and electronic components related to these systems. Colleagues of each discipline take care of commissioning and leveraging their deep knowledge of the electronic components and software used in AS/RS, conveyors, and monorail systems.
Our Project Managers and Supply Chain Manager work closely with NewCold MHE Project Managers to ensure that technical solutions align with schedules and budgets.
Beyond engineering, NCA ensures that electrical installations comply with NewCold’s standards and that all systems are properly commissioned. NCA employees are primarily located in Europe (Belgium and Italy) and the United States.
In addition to design and installation, NCA is responsible for aftersales support, providing PLC troubleshooting, spare parts management, and 24/7, year-round assistance.
Electrical & Instrumentation Group
The Electrical & Instrumentation group designs the electrical and data network layouts for conveyors and monorail systems. It procures electronic components and control cabinets, ensuring material availability through direct supplier contacts and a stock of long-lead components in Herentals. NCA safeguards materials supply and keeps projects agile. Additionally, NCA oversees electrical installations, I/O, and static testing.
AS/RS Group
The AS/RS group handles the electrical and software design of all AS/RS systems, including satellites, in close collaboration with hardware suppliers. Functionalities are extensively tested in-house and at the factory before being dispatched to the project in construction.
PLC Software Group
The PLC software group develops software for the installation and operation of conveyors and monorail systems. The software is backend-integrable for flexibility. All software is modelled and thoroughly emulated in-house before on-site commissioning begins.
Project Managers & Supply Chain Manager
NCA project managers oversee various projects, working with team leads from each discipline to ensure budgets and timelines are met. The Supply Chain Manager ensures timely delivery of materials, cabinets, and site equipment to construction sites.
