Kimberley Bos won a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Beijing, a unique achievement for the sledding sports in the Netherlands and only the second medal at the Winter Olympics for the Netherlands ever that was not achieved on a skating rink. Prior to that, Kimberley had already had a successful World Cup season. The skeleton athlete won six medals in various World Cups, including two gold, three silver and one bronze. These great performances made Kimberley Bos the winner of the World Cup standings.

The Dutch Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (BSBN) is the umbrella organization for the sports bobsleigh, skeleton, and luge in the Netherlands. The winter of 2021-2022 was a historic season for the federation. Team NewCold, as the Dutch team has been called since the sponsorship, was represented in no fewer than four disciplines during the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. The two-man bob, four-man bob, monobob athlete Karlien Sleper and skeleton athlete Kimberley Bos competed at the highest level.
