Team NewCold sets their sights on Milan-Cortina

Breda, September 24, 2025 – With less than 135 days to go until the Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina 2026, Team NewCold has officially presented its athletes and coaches for the 2025/2026 season, in close collaboration with the Dutch Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (BSBN).

The event was opened by Vincent Kortbeek, followed by Wim Noorman, Chairman of BSBN, who reflected on the federation’s growth and the ambitions for the upcoming Olympic year. Jonas Swarttouw and Piet Meijs, representing NewCold, reaffirmed the company’s strong support for the athletes and emphasized the shared values of perseverance, innovation, and teamwork that drive both top sport and food logistics.

A growing team with Olympic ambitions

Team NewCold has grown remarkably since the start of NewCold’s sponsorship in 2021, expanding from just six athletes to 20 today. This season, nine athletes are part of the focused Olympic preparation program, aiming to qualify for Milan-Cortina.

The line-up includes skeleton stars Kimberley Bos, Joeri van Kuppeveld, and Sander de Haan, alongside a strong bobsleigh squad led by Dave Wesselink, Jelen and Janko Franjić, Timme Koster, Gidon Bante, and Stephan Huis in ’t Veld. Together with their coaches – Ivo de Bruin, Joska Le Conté, Kristian Bromley, and Nico Semmler – the team is determined to compete at the highest level.

Innovation and preparation

This year, the focus extends beyond competitions to new training opportunities and equipment development. With Papendal as the national start track, combined with intensive international training camps in Austria, Winterberg, Oberhof, and St. Moritz, the team is sharpening its competitive edge. Skeleton athletes in particular are showing strong progress: Joeri van Kuppeveld will compete in the men’s World Cup, while Sander de Haan continues to develop through the Austrian skeleton program.

A shared journey to the top

“High-performance sport reminds us daily of the discipline and commitment required to reach the top,” said Jonas Swarttouw, EVP Commercial at NewCold. “We are proud to support Team NewCold on this journey – not just as a sponsor, but as a true partner in their road to Milan-Cortina 2026.”

NewCold Ambassador, Piet Meijs added:

“Success in logistics and success on the ice share the same DNA: precision, teamwork, innovation, and determination. Team NewCold embodies these values, and we are excited to see what this season will bring.”
