NewCold Site Focus: McDonough

As NewCold continues to expand its North American network, our McDonough campus in Georgia stands out as a powerful example of how automation, innovation and strategic location come together to create smarter supply chains.

Located just 30 miles southeast of Atlanta, McDonough connects customers to one of the strongest logistics networks in the United States, with access to approximately 80% of the U.S. market within two days by road. But what truly makes this site unique is its combination of ambient and frozen warehousing on a single highly automated campus.

The site began with NewCold’s first dry goods ambient warehouse in North America, offering 85,000 pallet positions. It has since expanded with a fully automated frozen facility that adds another 125,000 pallet positions. Together, these facilities provide customers with the flexibility, efficiency and scalability needed to support increasingly complex, multi temperature supply chains.

Innovation is built into every aspect of the operation. From automated stacker cranes and advanced case and layer picking systems to direct rail connectivity and 24/7 operations, McDonough is designed to improve efficiency, accuracy and resilience while reducing manual handling and resource consumption.

Sustainability is equally important. High density storage, energy efficient technologies, optimized material flows and ISO 14001 certified environmental management practices help minimize energy use, reduce waste and make better use of available resources.

Beyond the technology, McDonough is making a lasting impact in the local community. Since opening in 2024, the campus has created more than 200 jobs, with additional opportunities being added through the frozen expansion. NewCold is also working with local universities and educational institutions to help develop the next generation of talent in logistics, automation, robotics and mechatronics.
