At NewCold UK, our transport operation is designed to take complexity away from our customers so they can focus on what matters most: making great products.
By combining storage, consolidation, and transport into one seamless solution, we clear factories, store products, and deliver orders exactly when our customers need them. There are fewer handovers, less administration, and complete peace of mind.
A UK transport success story built at scale
To truly understand the impact of this model, you have to see it firsthand. NewCold’s Corby facility exemplifies the scale and efficiency of modern cold chain logistics.
Key operational facts for the UK include:
These figures position Corby as the largest cold store in the UK and the largest in Europe.
Through continued investment in fully automated systems across both customer sites and NewCold’s own 3PL facilities, the Corby and Wakefield sites together achieve an annual pallet throughput of 4,680,000. Approximately 20,000 additional pallet positions are due to open by year-end as part of the Wakefield Phase 3 extension. It is a powerful example of how NewCold is quietly disrupting the UK and global cold chain market, setting a new standard for scale, efficiency, and reliability.
What makes our UK transport model different?
With transport often representing two thirds of total supply chain costs, our integrated model makes it easier for customers to reduce spend while improving service.
Flexibility, resilience, and growth
Our multi-customer profile naturally balances demand across the year, from summer ice cream peaks to winter seasonal products. This reduces volatility and improves operational stability.
At the same time, our experienced teams listen, react, and execute quickly and simply, especially when customers need support during disruption or peak periods.
Automation and data are central to this:
NewCold is continuing to strengthen its UK transport offering by investing in its own tractors and trailers to maintain full control of the fleet, expanding into chill and ambient services, and working closely with customers to drive ongoing innovation.
As Wakefield and Corby move towards full capacity, increased volume will drive greater consolidation, higher load fill, and fewer partially filled journeys. This will improve both profitability and sustainability.
Because in transport, technology supports performance, but people who listen and react make the real difference.
NewCold offers exciting and fulfilling career opportunities around the world.
