Madrid, April 9, 2026. NewCold, a global company specializing in automated cold storage logistics and advanced supply chain solutions, has announced the start of construction of its first logistics facility in Spain, which will be located in the Noblejas Logistics Technology Park in Toledo. The project represents an investment of €100 million and will create 60 direct jobs once it is fully operational, in addition to generating a significant indirect economic impact in the area.
The cornerstone laying ceremony was led by Tomás Jolín, Country Manager of NewCold in Spain, alongside NewCold Founder and CEO, Bram Hage and Jonas Swarttouw, NewCold Managing Director for Europe. They were joined by Agustín Jiménez, Mayor of Noblejas; Carlos Ángel Devia, Deputy Delegate of the Government of Spain in Toledo; and Santiago Baeza, Director General for Business at the Regional Ministry of Economy, Business, and Employment of Castilla La Mancha.
During the event, attendees placed current circulating coins, newspapers dated April 9th, and the official project record into a time capsule before burying it.
“At NewCold, we invest with purpose: to offer our customers the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability they need to grow. Our new facility in Madrid will be among the most advanced automated cold chain centers in Europe,” said Bram Hage, Founder and CEO of NewCold.
The future facility will incorporate the latest generation of automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS), as well as other systems such as robotic picking and ATL, all designed to maximize operational efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and ensure the highest standards of food safety.
“Spain is a key strategic market for our customers, many of whom are growing rapidly in southern Europe,” noted Jonas Swarttouw, Managing Director for Europe at NewCold. “Our facility near Madrid will be an important hub within our integrated European network of automated cold storage warehouses and transport, enabling logistical efficiencies and synergies for producers, distributors, and retailers.”
For his part, Tomás Jolín, Country Manager of NewCold in Spain, emphasized that “having a presence in Spain is a fundamental part of NewCold’s European growth strategy. Our customers are increasingly seeking resilient and energy-efficient logistics infrastructure, and this facility will allow us to meet those needs while delivering the highest standards of quality and innovation.”
From an institutional perspective, the project has been welcomed as a high-value investment for the region’s industrial and logistics sectors, thanks to its ability to attract economic activity, foster skilled employment, and strengthen Noblejas’ position as a strategic hub for cold chain distribution. “This project continues the commitment we made many years ago to industrialize the municipality, develop industrial land, and generate employment, wealth, and economic activity. The arrival of NewCold will allow us to create new employment opportunities in the logistics sector,” explained Agustín Jiménez, Mayor of Noblejas.
He also emphasized that “this project reinforces our commitment to a modern, sustainable, and job creating industrial development model that is aligned with the logistics and economic transformation of the region.”
The new facility will be integrated into NewCold’s global network, which provides services to major food companies in more than a dozen countries worldwide.
