NewCold, a global leader in advanced food logistics, celebrated a major operational milestone with the arrival of the first pallet at its newly completed facility in Dinteloord, the Netherlands.
The event marked the official transition from construction to operations at what is now NewCold’s largest European facility built in a single phase—a cutting-edge, grid-independent cold storage warehouse with a capacity of 134,000 pallet positions and a height of 40 meters.
This new site is not only the company’s first greenfield project in the Netherlands, but also a landmark in its long-standing partnership with Lamb Weston, a global frozen potato products manufacturer and NewCold’s very first customer when the company launched its operations in 2012.
Innovation in scale and sustainability
The Dinteloord site sets a new standard for sustainable logistics. Its grid-independent design enables greater energy resilience, aligning with NewCold’s mission to lead the industry in environmentally responsible supply chain solutions. By operating independently of the public power grid, the facility is better equipped to manage energy efficiency and stability, particularly amidst growing demand for temperature-controlled storage across Europe.
The project was successfully delivered with no safety incidents, thanks to strong collaboration across NewCold’s global teams and trusted partners, including NewCold Metal Construction, TSL, KIM, and others. Their coordination ensured timely construction and seamless integration of the warehouse’s advanced automated systems.
Honoring a longstanding customer relationship
The ceremony celebrated not only an engineering achievement, but also a decade-long relationship with Lamb Weston, whose products will be stored in the new facility. Executives from both companies gathered for the milestone moment, including: Bram Hage, NewCold Founder & CEO, Peter Verharen, NewCold Project Director, Peter Hage, NewCold Dinteloord Site Manager, Tino Domenie, Lamb Weston Manager of 3rd Party Logistic Service Providers, and Jackie Wild, CEO TSL.
A symbolic ribbon cutting of the first pallet followed a round of speeches highlighting the collaboration, vision, and strategic alignment that made the project possible.
